O T H E R

Below you will find writing examples from courses I took during my time in college. Ranging from professional writing classes and journalism classes, the work below shows an array of my skills. Not only do I have the skills to journalistically report stories, I also have the skill of working with clients on projects and using rhetorical strategies to examine pre-existing works.

When I began working for Talisman as the executive editor in 2025, I found a transition manual hidden deeply in the Talisman server for future executive editors. The manual had not been updated since 2021, and was outdated. A lot of the information inside it was not accurate anymore. At this point, I knew that when I got closer to graduating, I would update the manual, which was also submitted as my client project in my Professional Writing Capstone course.

The goal of this manual is to help other executive editors be more prepared than I was when walking into this position. The final product is an 82-page document explaining every aspect of Talisman, from hiring and training staff to managing production, editing and leadership responsibilities.

This online argument was written for my Argument and Analysis class in 2025. The argument explores how social media impacts mental health and blends personal experience with rhetorical strategies.

I examine the psychological aspect of social media teenagers using specific statistics and public experiences while also acknowledging the contrasting perspectives.

Also written for my Argument and Analysis course, my rhetorical analysis of a distracted driving public service announcement analyzes many different things.

The PSA shows the dangers of distracted driving while using many different rhetorical strategies. Throughout the piece, I analyze the visual staging, the actors preformance and the strategic use of sound.

For my Advanced Reporting class in 2026, I spent the semester following the progress of a new Planned Parenthood Generation Action group formed on campus. After completing multiple interviews, my finished product examines the controversy surrounding the chapter forming in a state where abortion is banned.

By exploring conflicting views and following the progress of the chapter from beginning to end, I was able to capture a glimpse of what it's like to advocate for abortion in a primarily red state.

This piece was written in my Feature Writing course in 2024. In this personal essay, I explore the grief of unexpectedly losing my father in 2020. I did interviews with those who were around me during the time of his passing, such as my mother and friends.

Instead of making the piece take a look at what grief after the loss, I tell the story leading up to the tragedy, nodding to how normal life can be before losing a loved one. I hold this piece close to my heart. My father is one of the main reasons for being a journalist. No one was there to tell his story when it happened, so I took this opportunity to tell it myself.
